May 25, 2015

wow, can you believe this. 2 years has come and gone. I have grown up a lot. and it is all thanks so you all at home. i could have never done this without you.

How can one describe two years of service. People ask me how was your mission? well i haven't really come up with an answer that can express what is in my head but i will try my best.

the mission was so much different than i thought it was going to be. when i first got off the plane and met my trainer I had no idea what i was doing. I have come to realize that i am really good at hiding emotions. I dont know if you know this but i was so scared. I was terrified of leaving home. the longest i had ever gone without seeing my mom was a week. I had never lived away from home. it was so hard to leave everything i know to go to a place where they speak funny, the milk comes in bags, and they are not all members of the church! But week by week i started to get the hang of it. and then i completely fell in love with quebec. I love being a missionary. i love teaching the things i have come to know are true. Now i am at the end of it all. I feel like frodo returning to the Shire. I have a transition to make and i will need some help, but i am excited to do it. I fear no man, With Jesus Christ I can do all things. I truly believe that. there is no reason to be scared anymore. I have increased my faith and my testimony, and now i am needed elsewhere, so that is where i shall go.

I could go on and on about things i have learned and people that have helped me change, but i think we will save that for a later date. I love you all so much. I can't believe that i get to see you on thursday. mom you don't have to go 4 hours early like we did for justin.

finally i need to say one last thing.

mom and dad. thank you. do you realize what you have done. do you know how many families wish and pray every day that they can have a family like ours. you have 5 children, all of which are extremely active in the church, you have 2 temple marriages and a third coming soon (nat get to work) a 4th in like 5 years, (em that one is you) haha ok ok i will be somewhere in the middle of that. you have 4 missionaries, and a 5th preparing, you have served with everything you have in every calling given you. YOU ARE AMAZING. seriously. there are so many broken families i have met on my mission. It hurts me so much to see their pain. I will be forever grateful for my best friends, my teachers, my cheerleaders, my doctors, my counselors, and most importantly my mother and father. I hope to be as good of a father as you dad. and mom i hope that my future wife is as patient as you are. You have lived the perfect example of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and have given me hope for my future.

Godspeed,
Elder Logan Scott Cameron

May 4, 2015 Luke je suis ton pere! noooonnnnnnn

that was my starwars shout out for the day.

dear me what a week. cant believe it is already over! so sunday coming i am planning on doing what we call a session of google hangout. unfortunately it is still unsure/clear of the time at which i will be commencing said session. In order to proceed to the next step in the process I will need some valuable information, such as times at which church begins and ends, how many people with be joining us, ect. So until further changes the call with be gatineau time 2:30. i hope this will not be a problem for anyone. if it is please send an email to accept or deny these plans before 5:00pm. I will be checking my email for this very reason on this very evening in hopes to have a confirmation. if it wont work give me an appropriate time block to call so that we can look for possible candidates in the ward. thank you

so this week was sweet we got a new investigator! his name is jean petit, he and his family are refugees from africa, (i have basically served my mission in africa or haiti) He said that he had heard of Joseph Smith before and that the picture of Christ in the Book of Mormon is the most accurate. haha he is a funny man.

we were able to do some service for an old couple. we just cleaned up there yard a bit. nothing to big. they are funny, the man cant hear very well and speaks quite loud. haha it was a hoot. he asked me when i am going home. after my answer he said, ''est-ce qu'il y a quelqu'un qui chante: je t'attendrai a jamais!" haha translation  is there some one that is singing i will wait for you for ever? haha i said, "j'epere que ma maman est la!"

he got a good chuckle out of this one!

We have a recent convert we work with who asked us if we could call her every night to read the book of mormon with her. It has been really cool thus far. We have only done it for 4 days but already we have seen a change. She loves the book of mormon and wants to understand it more. Her name is Rosie. She is from Haiti. she is teaching me some creole. it is super fun. one day i will speak it!

to answer mothers questions i fly home the 28th of may and my flight comes in i think at 7.30.

thanks so much i love you all so so much and cant wait to see you all. i have a pecial prize for mommmyyyyyy so be ready to weep. Godspeed,

que la force soit avec vous

April 27, 2015

Wow what a week. mom that is super cute what the children did for you! i wish i could have seen it!
well emily going to prom? what is this! man when i left she was like 12, and now she is 16. nothing makes sense anymore.
I got the package!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally. thank you so much. i have already eaten most of the candy haha.! it was so kind of you. thank you so much!

we had a great week. we even got to perform a song at a talent show. i am sending the video now . i hope it works so that you all can watch it. we played come thou fount. i arranged it similar to the sufjan stevens version for all you sufjan fans. i hope you enjoy. we had a lot of less actives come to the talent show. it was so great. soeur gagnon came! finally! i was so happy to see her. she loved our song too! it was great.

can you believe mothers day is in 2 weeks? c'est fou quoi! so i have been thinking. you probably are on the same page with me. but it is not necessary to send a birthday package seeing as how i will be coming home soon there after. I dont think it would even make its way to ottawa before i would leave. thank you so much for all your support you have given me. i love you all so much!

guess what we got a new investigator this week! his name is daniel. he requested a book of mormon on the website and we went over to deliver! he let us in and we talked with him for an hour about the book of mormon. it was really cool because i was on an exchange with elder hernadez. a missionary that was in the mtc with natalie. he and i came out together. we havent served around each other until our very last transfer. and there is another missionary in our distric as well that we go home with. so it is pretty cool. we call ourselves the 3 nephites because we are the only ones left from our original transfer! haha. he is a great missionary.

bon. i love you all very very much. sachez que vous etes super et fort! je vous aime trop! de la lune et retour!

April 20, 2015

so i had a video that i uploaded but it didnt make it. anyways it was for justins birthday. i guess i will just have to try it again. so sorry for the delay

hello everyone! i am doing well! It has been a good week. My new companion is from idaho, his name is elder thurgood. he is great

i have not got the package yet but i am sure that i will get it sometime soon. the problem is we have to wait for the zone leaders to go to montreal for a meeting so they can bring mail back. So that is why it takes a long time. I dont know when the next meeting is but i think it is within the next couple weeks. Thank you so much haha sorry it takes so long

man i cant believe that sam is home. that is crazy.

this week was good
we had a really good lesson in priesthood yesterday about reading the scriptures. There was this a really cool proverb that was shared: better to light a candle than curse the darkness. We were talking about how a lot of times there is darkness around us and we have 2 choices. we can do something about it or we can just curse the darkness. If we have the influence of daily scripture study we can find our small candles to light all around us. They may only give a little light but they give enough to move forward.

anyways it made me want to study the scriptures a little more each day and have something to take  with me through out the day. it is easy as a missionary because we teach that Gospel everyday, we have to study. I guess i am just trying to build up that habit so that will never slip from me even after being home and not having to teach a lesson everyday.

we have a talent show coming up this week and we are singing come thou fount. i arranged it a little differently so we will see how it goes. i will film it and send her home. Hope you enjoy. I followed in my brothers footsteps and made a harmonica holder so i could play the guitar at the same time.

I love you all very much. we have to help the zone leaders today. they are moving in with us. it is now a 4 man! i am really excited to have my friend elder andersen there with me. we go home together. Godspeed.

dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum ba bum
thats how you type the Olympics song.
i needed a musical introduction to present to you the fate of elder cameron for his last 6 weeks as a missionary.
he will be staying in gatineau but he will be receiving a new companion. elder thurgood from idaho. you may have seen his face before because he was in my last district when i was in ste foy. he was in rimouski. he has been there for 10ish months. crazy. he spent as much time there as i did in chomedey.
so yeah that is the future of elder cameron. in 6 weeks i will come home.
so i have a challenge for you all!!!!! i hope you will accept it because i am going to do it. I challenge you to read the book of mormon before i come home! it is called the transfer challenge! I will be reading it in french for my last time. but you can read in english if you so desire. this is my challenge to you. if you dont want to that is ok. you dont have to. but i thought it would be a fun family thing. so who is with me?
this week was fun. we were a little sick still at the beginning. i was getting over my cold... still am... and elder hattaway got a little sick. so it wasnt the most lively week. but we tried our best. the end of the week was good.
we found out saturday night that elder hattaway was leaving so bishop invited us to come eat at his house yesterday. it was so fun. we sang hymns, i played some guitar. told the children some stories because they are crazy! haha here is a photo of our fun
hahaha i had to ruin at least one photo. the gun is  not pointed at sabrinas head.
here is the serious one
these kids are great. what a fun family.
thank you so much for doing school for me. i sent the email so hopefully that will fix everything. i love you all very much Godspeed

April 6, 2015

wow wasnt conference the greatest!!

i have not received the package yet, but thanks so much in advance. you are all too kind!

how are all you all doing? i am doing just great. started off a little rough this week. we visited a family with 3 cats. i have found out that i am pretty allergic to cats. i was dying in there. a mix of my allergies asthma and the change of weather gave me a cold. so i have been a little sick for this week. not too fun. but life goes on right??
besides that it was a good week, i went on an exchange in ottawa. It is a cool place. kind of a strange capitol. really small to be a national capitol.. I went with elder andersen. i came into the mission field with him. it was fun to catch up. we have served around each other for most of our missions. He is  a good guy. we had a passover meal with a family in his unit. it was a really cool experience. they talked about Elijah turning the hearts of the fathers to the children ect. I really enjoyed the lamb we ate, with the pita bread. good stuff. we watched the movie because he lives with them.
a turkesh woman told us her life story the same day. lets just say i am glad i have a normal family... well for the most part... and that everyone loves eachother. she had one messed up family. it was so sad to her the stories of her poor country.
conference never ceases to amaze me. every year. how does it happen. i have a very specific question like: what does it mean to fear God? and then elder bednar just whips that one out.

Look at these cool pictures

March 30, 2015

hello,
how are all yall doing? yall comes from an english phrase: you all, which is primarily used in the southern united states of america, where my companion, elder hattaway, was living before going on a mission for his church.

this week was great. we got a new investigator! how sweet is that? its pretty cool. his name is ange uriel and he is from haiti. he is 16 years old and super open. he has been taught in the past but never came to church so we are going to see if we can help him change that. anyways super excited for that!
we had a good zone training meeting this week. we talked about the pathway to exaltation. all of the things necessary for exaltation are available to us in these last days. how neat is that. we can have the knowledge of a celestial life here on earth. i think that is amazing!

one of our investigators finally came to church. his name is apolinaire. he works a lot but we were able to get him to church. he brought his 2 year old daughter. i basically played with her for all of sacrament because she is hyper. so i read her a book and played with some animals that were lent to us by another young girl sitting in front of us. that was fun, tiring though haha.

we went to the easter program. that was great. we heard about 10 songs from the wards in our stake. it was very well done. i love music so much. it is amazing to hear the talents of so many members in canada, all together to testify that Jesus is the Christ.

I am well mother i am coming home 28 of may. i will watch conference at the church. spring is almost here. not quite for us. it snowed this morning but turned into rain. so that is nice.

i love you all so so much. hope all is well.  i hope all goes well

Godspeed

March 23, 2015

Hello all, and thank you for your prayers on my behalf. they were felt. I was feeling very sickly for monday tuesday and most of wednesday. but i am doing great today. i spent all of monday and most of tuesday in bed and the the beginning of wednesday was hard but after that i was great. I dont know if it was food poisoning or not.

mommy great talk. wow i always knew you had a great gospel knowledge but this was incredible. Very good, spirit is strong in the talk. i loved it.

man we did some pretty cool stuff this week. after we were feeling better we did an exchange with the elders in our district. I stayed in Gatineau and we went with our ward mission leader and a 10 year old less active boy to the museum of war. it was really interesting. i think it was great for the boy. he doesn't have many friends and he had a great time with us. He is funny, he goes to school in english and speaks french at home and creole with his grandma so he is all mixed up all the time haha poor kid.

we had the soccer activity this week also. lets just say elder cameron still has it in him! but he is not in shape at all! boy i am still super sore. It was so fun. we had maybe 30 or 40 people there.  a lot of them were african. 2 investigators came and some of their friends. it was a great contact for sure. they asked to take a photo with us at the end. Man i have never felt more complimented in my life. they all said i play well. Coming from these guys i felt so honored haha.

i even scored! yeah its true. i chipped the goal keeper from 60 yards haha. good stuff. man life is great.

not too much to report because i was inside all day for most of the week. but i am having fun. i am working hard. I love you all
i will send pictures later in the day i have  a lot

March 9, 2015

hello everyone. my how time flies. doesnt it seem like it was just monday? boy oh  boy  what a mighty fine week it was.

we had some great lessons and a lot of cancellations but you know that is just part of life. but we had the craziest stake conference i have ever been to. lots of changes in the stake. a new ward was even created right before our very eyes. it was really quite something. the Lord is hastening His work right here is our part of the neighborhood. stake conference was avaliable in 3 languages. how neat is that. so the gatineau elders, thats us (the only french elders at stake conference) sang with our french members in french haha. a little prideful of me but it was fun. I enjoy speaking french. this is something i will miss a lot.

i hope you enjoy these pictures i am sending home. i got sick of my desk so i taped all these pictures i found to the walls. how neat is that. we put up all the latter day prophets too. thank goodness i have that primary song memorized or putting them up would have been a challenge! latter day prophets are number one!

this is the river by our home. it is large. and frozen at the mombent. yes that right still frozen.

and the last one is sister gagnon. she is the sweetest old lady in the world.

so this last week i read a lot about the apostle peter. He was an amazing man. I love his story so much and we can learn a lot from his life and the change he went through from being a fisherman to one of the greatest leaders in the church. After Christ was resurrected He came to Peter and asked if he loved Him. We all know the story. Feed my sheep is the response 3 times. After Peter received the Holy Ghost he was a changed man. He was sanctified. We knew he had the Priesthood and he had the faith that with it he could do all the Lord required of him. A lot of people didnt like him. there were some that wanted him dead. No one has ever said they want to kill me but there have been some who made it know that they did not like mormon missionaries. Peter taught me a great lesson this week. In Acts 5 peter says
41 ¶And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

What a strange thing to say in the eyes of the world. I have been trying to think like this this week. to be worthy to suffer for the Name of Christ. His name is on my chest everyday and because of it a lot of people stare at me and look at me in a strange way. But i love it now. Now i understand a little how Peter felt. I love being a missionary of Christ. I know he loves me and He helps me everyday!

i love you all very much. I am working hard and i hope you are too!

March 2, 2015

Bonjour a tous et a toutes, moi c'est toujours elder cameron

How is everyone doing? moi je vais tres bien. i am actually typing a letter that i wrote last night. I have decided to do this because often times, sunday i remember what has happened during the week. however come Monday when i sit down in front of the computer, i forget some of the grand things i was going to say. This prevents such error, and will give you more details , thus making my mother more at ease. the next thing i wrote was to respond to questions.

mother, i am actually a huge fan of yoga. i dont know many moves. but the ones i know i do some times hahaa. i dont really need anything.

first i will begin by giving you an outline of how this email will be presented. first we will hear about some fun anecdotes that would make one smile, following this we will be reading about some spiritual experiences or as i like to call them, the "highlight reel". If there are no further questions we will begin. Thank you for your support and considerations. And now the week.

it was wednesday when we decided to visit sister Gagnon. I am sure i have talked about her already but just to make sure . let me describe her to you. Imagine if you will and 80 year old woman, about 5' 0" who has a very thick quebecois accent. She is a classic grandmas, meaning she knits, cooks, tells stories, loves to talk, and loves us! Back to the story, as my knitting mentor she  has been giving me knitting advice for the past couple of visits, so when i told her that i had finished my project she said, with a proud grandmother look in her eye "bien fait" which translates to well done.  we then discussed the importance of Joseph Smith , she then retold us her conversion story. The spirit was defiantly there before leaving. She told us she loved us. I was so happy haha it was great.

On this same day we decided to visit Steve our investigator. We had a good lesson. He had just come out of the hospital again. We told him to call us if he needed any help, and then he said, "you know i will guy, I love you two" i was so happy again! haha 2 people told us that they loved us in one day!

we got a new investigator this week! yeah for member work. Horteuse was a member referral from a member in our ward. She is from Cote D'ivoire.  We took a recent convert with us who also comes from the same country. It was perfect. He is so converted. He was able to share his testimony with this woman and it touched her. The spirit was so strong. I love being a missionary.

Next some spiritual experiences.
We went to visit. We were able to give a blessing to a less active and her non member husband. I asked when the last time she received a blessing and she said it had been a long time and she had been praying that the missionaries could give her one. so we did. it was awesome for sure!

well family i love you all. I hope you are well. I pray for you all the time. you are great.
Godspeed

February 23, 2015

Hello everyone!
how are you all doing!? I am doing just fine, just fine indeed. How cold did it get? i am just so nervous for the summer, we may have no water!
I am glad you are all done with jury duty my mommy. This is pleasing. It is a darn shame that these people had to disobey. they are going to be so sad in the prison. but that is the way that it must be i guess.

there is going to be another member of the cameron family soon. this is also pleasing. Any votes for future cameron names? i think the child will be a boy, and he shall be called, Logan, or frederic, or perhaps orvil, i like edmund too. there you go just!

this week was a great one. you know i have been doing a lot of studying on charity because sometimes there are some missionaries that i dont get a long with, and so elder hattaway and myself (dont worry it is not him. we do get along really well together) struggle loving these other missionaries. so i am trying to look at them as God looks at them. I have learned a lot about my relationship with him. It is amazing how much he cares for us. He is always there, and He sends us people or scriputres or anything really to tell us just that.

One thing that i have come to understand a little bit more on my mission is Agency. it may seem like a simple thing to understand, when we think that it is just the ability to choose right or wrong. but there is so much more that comes with it. we must accept every consequence that comes with our agency and the agency of others, because that is part of mortality. Now if we choose to give our agency to God then we receive freedom in return. the opposite would be death and captivity  by giving our agency to the devil. Something that i have realized is that being a missionary requires exact obedience, not just because we need the spirit, but people have to see in us, the representatives of the church, what real freedom is like. Then with the whisperings that come from the Holy Ghost with testify of the validity of the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

So for the rest of my mission i want to be that kind of example, that when people look at the way i live my life they will be able to see freedom, through obedience to the commandments of Christ.

We had Zone conference this week. It was great. President taught us about working with ward council. True it was to help us right now but i think that the training was more focused on preparing us for the future councils that we will be a part of in our home wards. I got some really good ideas for our current ward and we are going to work hard to see that some things happen.

Life is good as a missionary. I have found a new talent for making crepes. it is more of an obsession at this point. we have them at least 2 times a week. they are quick easy, and i feel sophisticated while eating and preparing them. haha

my family, Godspeed. I love you all very very much. I pray for each one of you by name every day that you may have a missionary opportunity. I hope you each have the chance to testify of what we know to be true often. I will be forever grateful for the sacrifices you have all made to help me be where i am today. I love being a missionary. I love speaking french. and i love the Gospel and the freedom it gives me.

February 16, 2015

hello all,
I am doing just dandy, my back and asthma are about the same. But all is well. We had a pretty good week, i am content.

my valentines day was great! not too crazy, we ate dinner at a family's house. it was really fun. we even got to play a game with them. they had family in from out of town. Their step father who is not a member was there. this guy is hilarious, he is anglaphone from ottawa. his name is jc. oh man this guy is a hoot. let me tell you. He reminds me of dad when we are playing a game and he says weird things. yeah it was just like that. he turned to me and asked if i wanted to see his goat impression. then he grabbed both lips, pulled them out, extended his tongue and made a retched noise. it was quite humorous indeed.

We visited one of my favorite old ladies in the world soeur Gagnon. she is an angel. she loves to talk. so we just sit down and she tells us stories of when she was young. she showed us all the photos of her childrens weddings. what a lady. good news she made a goal to come back to church in March. I am so pleased with this information.

Yesterday the young mens president came up to us and with a hopeless look in his eye he asked,(translated from french to english) "elders, i was wondering if you would be able to teach young mens today. The theme is the plan of salvation and we have gone over it 2 times already. it is just not working out. the boys need something else. can you help?"
"why of course!" we responded, thinking that we would have just what the boys needed to inspire them. For it has only been 3 years since i was their age.
So class starts and we present ourselves. After which we started talking about the plan of salvation, and boy, lets just say that i had the greatest desire to go to everyone of my leaders i had growing up and apologize for my behavior. Good grief this boys were terrible. I like to think i wasnt that bad. We tried everything we had to get them to pay attention and participate, but nothing was working. those poor leaders.

Later that day we went to the Bishops house to eat dinner. After we ate and shared our lesson, he asked if we had to leave. we sang hymns. Bishops brother in law was there. i think is not a member or just really less active. but he was loving the music. The spirit was surrounding was as we lifted our voices to the sky in our hymns of praise. haha it was really fun. it reminded me of singing with my family.

well that is all from elder cameron this week. I am healthy and trying to get wise. haha life is good, cold but good.

i love you all very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very much

February 9, 2015

well i`ll be. my mother is going to be the next person to send someone to prison. I`ve never been more proud! my mommy is growing up. good luck mom you will be great. just remember the constitution of the united states and the bill of rights was ordained of God. You can`t go wrong! I will be praying for you. let me know how it goes.

I cant believe you are wearing short sleeves and such. It has snowed almost everyday this week. there is so much! we are going to la balle de neige today. i think justin went to it. it is a gathering of sorts, with ice sculptures, queue de castors, and loads of other things. i am fairly excited for our trek to Ottawa today.

Thanks so much in advance for the valentines day package. that will be just swell. i am in need of a reeses peanut butter cup, and i have a feeling that these were included. thanks so much you are all too kind. i think that it would be good to get some asthma medicine on second thought. i have been having  a bit of trouble this past week. Also i think my back is getting a little bit worse. It isnt too bad. I will be fine, but i think maybe when i come home it may be wise to have it looked at again.

Kamwonn. this is how we spell our name in Haitian Creole. we work with so many haitians and so we have been trying to learn a little bit. It is super cool. We are learning so much. It is actually really easy i can read it already. If you read it out loud it is like french mad gab. I love it haha. I am thinking a lot about french. I think i may want to study it when i come home. Yesterday i translated the meetings for a Chinese woman, whom everyone thought was a man. I felt so bad. everone kept asking where he was from, and the lady she was with said, not he! she she she! the lady is japanese. not really sure how they ended up together. But i sat next to her and translated sacrament meeting and the 2nd hour. it reminded me of when i was in ste foy and i had to do that almost every week. it was tiring!
anyways back to kamwonn. rosie our less active lady we work with made us a haitian meal this last week. it was so delicious. boy let me tell you it was divine. We had a great lesson on the restoration of the Gospel.

I am a knitting machine let me tell ya. I am in the process of knitting my very own pantoufle. they are just the most comfortable things in the world let me tell ya. a lady in our ward made me a pair and i wear them everyday.

our investigator apolinaire had us over. unfortunately (or fortunately :)) he was watching the final for la coupe d'afrique. cote d'ivoire was playing ghana. it went to penatlys and so he kept saying after the game we pray ok?? we got there at about 85 minutes, so they went to extra time and pks. the good news is that he is very happy because his country won! the bad news is we had to leave so we couldnt teach him. but we do have  a return appointment and the cup is over so we should not have any more distractions. haha. i hope.

Overall i would say it was a good week. Life is good. La vie est belle. We are surrounded by tender mercies of the Lord. They come every day. If we have trust in the Lord everything will work out. It is a great time to be alive. This work is the best kind i can be doing right now. I love you all. Christ lives. He loves us!

February 2, 2015

bonjour a tous et a toutes!
hey y'all, this is what my companion says, he is from the south. he says y'all. this means you all. how are you doing on this fine cold februrary morning slash afternoon.

tiff is right. it is dark all the time, also the stores on saturday close at 5. so that is lame. where is she at? if she is close to ottawa i could totally see her. you should tell her to come to gatineau and take the elders out to lunch hahaha

this week was fun! i will grant your request mother by telling you what we did on saturday.

6.30 wake up, pray, pretend to exercise while my comp is looking haha.

7.00 shower, prepare myself for the day, look in the mirror and say, hey logan its going to be a great day, good lookin

8.00 study personally: this week i studied in the book of mormon. I am reading in alma. you know alma was such an alstar missionary. He cared so much for his people. Such a great man.

9.00 comp study, start with an uplifting bluegrass riff on the merlin. following which we pray and prep for our lessons for the day

10.00 l'etude de langue sometimes we listen to coffee break french. a great language tool. Other times we read in the french book of mormon

11.00 eat

12.00 we leave the apartment! yah! we visited the nzewandro family. they are from the congo! great family! they have 3 little girls. the youngest said, "je peux pas telecharger je suis trop petite!" i cant down load things i am too small! haha
we had such a great lesson with them. the spirit is always so strong in there home.

1.00 pass by some former investigators. none were successful

3.30 eating with our investigators. apolinaire and grace. Ok this meal was very african. We even ate with our hands. it was scary. i ate half of a fish. When i say fish i really mean fish. it was crazy. bones skin. eyes. and cous cous and tomatos and other stuff. it was kind of hard but i ate it all.

that one took a while haha
later we visited steve in the hospital. he was in the hospital for his heart so we visited him. he is such a good man. really funny guy. i asked him how the food was and he said, honestly, its excellent i love it. He just loves being there. haha i dont really know why but he does. haha he is 69 and his heart is not serving him very well. another lesson for us to live the word of wisdom! he lives it now but before he smoked for such a long time. and he didnt eat very well. now he is paying for it. it is sad but that is what happens

then we had correlation meeting and that was the day!

most days are similar in some way but everyday is different with all sorts of adventures.

well thats all for me
i love you all very much

January 26, 2015

That's right folks. holy water freezes just like regular water. haha we had an investigator give us holy water. we left it in our car and sure enough just like normal water it froze. I think the lesson is clear for all of us. Holy water is just water. I guess it wasn't that holy. They probably should have boiled the hell out of it..... hahahahahahaha ok that was pretty funny right?
oh man life is good.

the cold north is very cold. but it hasn't been too bad as of late. it hovers around -15. I don't know what that is in Fahrenheit. so my nose hairs are fine. they actually have froze before. but not this week. funny that you mention that mother. I am well thank you, my asthma is doing just fine. I am not in need yet but I think it may be wise to get one ready to send because it may take a while to get to Gatineau. No rush. en francais on dit, t'en fait pas! don't worry relax if I knew how to spell acunamatata I would write that.

well this week was just swell. I already told you about the holy water. that came from an investigator. her name is echo. we passed her off to the sisters because she is a single lady and it is hard for us to visit her. Build the kingdom as I like to say. I met a great African family this week. Oh man I just love Africans and hatians. we work a lot with them. they are so nice, humble, and funny. This family has 3 girls that speak English French and Spanish. can you believe that?? Their English is much better than my French too. they are recent converts of about a year or so. They are struggling coming to church so we were able to talk about missionary work and service. that kind of rekindled the flame. so hopefully they will be coming back more regularly to church.

each week we do service at a homeless shelter. we make beds, and sweep floors and such. It is quite amusing. we go with our friend steve. he is an internegator but we love him all the same. he is a great guy, just doesn't really know exactly what he wants right now that's all. I don't know if he will get baptized while I am a missionary but he will be baptized one day. of that I am sure.

hey do you remember the willy waller 2006? well I saw it again this week. Our ward mission leader loves this film so he showed it to us at our correlation meeting. haha the other missionaries in the ward are really young. I am the oldest by a good year and some change. So they didn't really understand the video but elder hattaway and myself and our ward mission leader were just laughing so hard. Elder hattaway is great. he is a football player. he played for his college before he left of the mission. His French is really good for where he is at in his mission. he came in with elder draper my last companion. so he is still pretty knew but he works like an experienced missionary. he is awesome. a great missionary in every sense of the term.

all is well in zion. I am doing just great. I hope all is well at home. I am praying hard for every one of yous! that was a good Canadian phrase. they say yous when there is more than one you. how neat is that?
Godspeed.

January 19, 2015

what a week! it had its ups and downs. and sometimes up out number the downs, but not in Nottingham.

I will tell you all a little bit about my companion ELDER HATTAWAY. He is an allstar. i am serious. he can play every single sport, quite well i might add. He was companions with elder shumway in the mtc. So he has had to deal with two elders from the 32nd ward. How neat is that. I really like him. he is a hard worker. We have already had a great time together. He hails from the land of Georgia. The peach pride state. He is extremely good at puzzles. i have found a new addiction. Puzzles my friends are dangerous. once you start that is all you can think about. Dont worry we were still working hard doing missionary work but once planning was over we were attacking some puzzles. It is great for clearing the mind. I have really enjoyed myself while doing puzzles. Anyways my comp is great and we are having fun

this week was a fun one. we had a couple discouragements but you know those come and they make us stronger. A wise woman once sang, What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I think she was singing about lifting weights and such, but it relates to the mission as well. Sometimes things come your way and they make you sad. But even when we are sad we can be happy because we know that these things are given to us for our good. We learn and grow and become more like our Father in Heaven. I have learned this time and time again on my mission.

I went on an exchange with a really young missionary this week. It was fun. It made me think of the beginning of my mission and how i felt. I have come a long way! i can speak french now that is kind of cool. I may not know the answer to every question but i do know that God loves His children and that answer is good enough for me.

I received a strange call yesterday. A woman called and asked if she could talk with me for a little while. I had no idea who she was. She asked me some doctrinal questions and i was able to answer them by testifying. That was about the only thing i could do was to testify. She then asked if we could visit her and discuss more about the nature of God. It was really interesting to see that i did not have to have a perfect answer. I have never really been good with words. I try my best but more often than not i look back on what i said and wish i could have changed it. But as i looked back on this particular instance the spirit told me that what i said did not come from me. It came from Heavenly Father and that His answers are perfect for the woman with which i was speaking. That was a really cool experience for me.

I hope you are all doing well. You are all in my prayers every night. It has been just swell to be a missionary. I am so glad i am here. Thank you for your support
Godspeed

January 13, 2015

Hello how are you all
yes i know today is tuesday and pday is usually on monday. but unfortunately we have from time to time something that is called zone training meeting. and when president cant make it to ottawa any other day of the week he chooses monday. so that is why my day of preparation in on tuesday

well i suppose i shall respond to questions before giving an account of my dealings with my fellow men this week.
first answer, i am well thank you for asking. Mother you are very close to the spirit always remember that, i had a couple rough days this week but i felt the prayers. Thank you for all you do, insert smiley face
second I did receive grandmas package and i sent them a thank you email, but i guess they did not receive it. pity. i shall send another

Man i almost died this week, usually i wouldn't tell these kinds of stories to my mother but it was quite humorous therefore i cant help but share. I shall do so by recounting my story of leaving sainte foy

I woke up tuesday the 6th at 5:45 in order to catch the bus which would take me from quebec city to montreal at 6:30. After preparing my self, i said goodbye to my fellow missionary friends and i left the beautiful land of quebec. It was a sad farewell but full of love. I left with one other missionary who was going home. We made it to the bus station after a very long and cold ride. we arrived at the station Berri Uquam. now for all you who know the metros of montreal you would realize that this place is a very busy and stressful station, for it connects 3 different lines, the heart of montreal. I had to drag my luggage through the station and get on a metro to go 3 stops to laurier, drag my luggage up the stairs and across the street to the mission office. then after about a half hour i did the exact same thing, but this time i got on a bus to ottawa. after on the bus i sat and stared out the window. I was pretty sad i wont lie. I loved being in quebec. it was a great 6 months. But when i got off i met my new companion! elder Hattaway. He is great. Seriously one of the funniest guys i have met. We get along just fine. the are is good too. a little bizarre but i am having a good time. my district is a really young one. i am the oldest by over a year, in mission time that is. my comp is actually older than me. you know that is an interesting fact i have never been older than any of my comps.
anyways so i meet him and this other man named steve. he is an investigator of ours. he is really nice and willing to help us out. he gave us a ride back to our place because we have no car, yet. hopefully this week.
So this is the part where i almost die. as much as i love steve he is  a terrible driver. i was trying to get to know him a bit, and maybe this was my fault, but i asked him some questions and then he started to turn around to talk to me while he was driving! the red jeep in front of us got closer and closer. He swerved out of the way just in time, and managed to visit 5 lanes with out touching a single other car. After some profane language, he offered a prayer of gratitude to thank the Lord for getting the two elders home in safety. now that is a man!

we have had a great time here thus far, with many adventures to come. I have found a new love for puzzles. i think i am going to have to get some. We just finished one today. good stuff, great for stress relief.

I love you all very much

January 5, 2015

I am getting transferred! how weird is that. there are still 2 weeks left in the regular transfer but there are some missionaries going home early for school and so there were some things that got switched around and i am going to Gatineau. Which is in Ottawa. so i am going to the opposite side of the mission! how crazy is that? this will most likely be my last area. For i only have 3 transfers to go after this one ends on the 21st.

oh no buddy, i always knew that he was part wolf. What a dog! we should make a movie about him. Man i am kind of pumped that he got a bird. how did we lose so many others? we only have 2 left? i am not sad or anything just curious haha, they were not my favorite creatures on the block. Once mine died i would have no part of them, for if you remember correctly it was the rest of them that teamed up on my fragile hen, she never stood a chance against the raging talons. So maybe i am still a little upset about that whole fiasco.

we had a great new years celebration. we ate at our branch presidents house again, and then at the casanovas house for new years day. they are so kind, in fact the are so kind that brother casanova gave me a vintage 1960 electric guitar! how neat is that. there are some minor repairs that need to be made but that is going to be a fun project when i come home i am super excited to play it. it is packed up in my suitcase just waiting to be fixed.

i am really sad to leave sainte foy. i have loved being here. i think i have grown the most in this area. i have learned a lot. I was able to be the district leader for 3 transfers, and i was able to hear a lot of miracles from all the missionaries in our district. it has been just splendid to work here. I will leave a piece of my heart here in quebec city. but i am sure that gatineau will be great. The Lord has need of me there and so i will go and do the things which He commands. It is crazy how fast time is flying.

unfortunately i am going to have to keep this one short. i have a lot of work to do to prepare to leave on tuesday. I love you all very much and here is a picture of yours truly, Le Roi!
