March 30, 2015

hello,
how are all yall doing? yall comes from an english phrase: you all, which is primarily used in the southern united states of america, where my companion, elder hattaway, was living before going on a mission for his church.

this week was great. we got a new investigator! how sweet is that? its pretty cool. his name is ange uriel and he is from haiti. he is 16 years old and super open. he has been taught in the past but never came to church so we are going to see if we can help him change that. anyways super excited for that!
we had a good zone training meeting this week. we talked about the pathway to exaltation. all of the things necessary for exaltation are available to us in these last days. how neat is that. we can have the knowledge of a celestial life here on earth. i think that is amazing!

one of our investigators finally came to church. his name is apolinaire. he works a lot but we were able to get him to church. he brought his 2 year old daughter. i basically played with her for all of sacrament because she is hyper. so i read her a book and played with some animals that were lent to us by another young girl sitting in front of us. that was fun, tiring though haha.

we went to the easter program. that was great. we heard about 10 songs from the wards in our stake. it was very well done. i love music so much. it is amazing to hear the talents of so many members in canada, all together to testify that Jesus is the Christ.

I am well mother i am coming home 28 of may. i will watch conference at the church. spring is almost here. not quite for us. it snowed this morning but turned into rain. so that is nice.

i love you all so so much. hope all is well.  i hope all goes well

March 23, 2015

Hello all, and thank you for your prayers on my behalf. they were felt. I was feeling very sickly for monday tuesday and most of wednesday. but i am doing great today. i spent all of monday and most of tuesday in bed and the the beginning of wednesday was hard but after that i was great. I dont know if it was food poisoning or not.

mommy great talk. wow i always knew you had a great gospel knowledge but this was incredible. Very good, spirit is strong in the talk. i loved it.

man we did some pretty cool stuff this week. after we were feeling better we did an exchange with the elders in our district. I stayed in Gatineau and we went with our ward mission leader and a 10 year old less active boy to the museum of war. it was really interesting. i think it was great for the boy. he doesn't have many friends and he had a great time with us. He is funny, he goes to school in english and speaks french at home and creole with his grandma so he is all mixed up all the time haha poor kid.

we had the soccer activity this week also. lets just say elder cameron still has it in him! but he is not in shape at all! boy i am still super sore. It was so fun. we had maybe 30 or 40 people there.  a lot of them were african. 2 investigators came and some of their friends. it was a great contact for sure. they asked to take a photo with us at the end. Man i have never felt more complimented in my life. they all said i play well. Coming from these guys i felt so honored haha.

i even scored! yeah its true. i chipped the goal keeper from 60 yards haha. good stuff. man life is great.

not too much to report because i was inside all day for most of the week. but i am having fun. i am working hard. I love you all
i will send pictures later in the day i have  a lot

March 9, 2015

hello everyone. my how time flies. doesnt it seem like it was just monday? boy oh  boy  what a mighty fine week it was.

we had some great lessons and a lot of cancellations but you know that is just part of life. but we had the craziest stake conference i have ever been to. lots of changes in the stake. a new ward was even created right before our very eyes. it was really quite something. the Lord is hastening His work right here is our part of the neighborhood. stake conference was avaliable in 3 languages. how neat is that. so the gatineau elders, thats us (the only french elders at stake conference) sang with our french members in french haha. a little prideful of me but it was fun. I enjoy speaking french. this is something i will miss a lot.

i hope you enjoy these pictures i am sending home. i got sick of my desk so i taped all these pictures i found to the walls. how neat is that. we put up all the latter day prophets too. thank goodness i have that primary song memorized or putting them up would have been a challenge! latter day prophets are number one!

this is the river by our home. it is large. and frozen at the mombent. yes that right still frozen.

and the last one is sister gagnon. she is the sweetest old lady in the world.

so this last week i read a lot about the apostle peter. He was an amazing man. I love his story so much and we can learn a lot from his life and the change he went through from being a fisherman to one of the greatest leaders in the church. After Christ was resurrected He came to Peter and asked if he loved Him. We all know the story. Feed my sheep is the response 3 times. After Peter received the Holy Ghost he was a changed man. He was sanctified. We knew he had the Priesthood and he had the faith that with it he could do all the Lord required of him. A lot of people didnt like him. there were some that wanted him dead. No one has ever said they want to kill me but there have been some who made it know that they did not like mormon missionaries. Peter taught me a great lesson this week. In Acts 5 peter says
41 ¶And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

What a strange thing to say in the eyes of the world. I have been trying to think like this this week. to be worthy to suffer for the Name of Christ. His name is on my chest everyday and because of it a lot of people stare at me and look at me in a strange way. But i love it now. Now i understand a little how Peter felt. I love being a missionary of Christ. I know he loves me and He helps me everyday!

i love you all very much. I am working hard and i hope you are too!

March 2, 2015

Bonjour a tous et a toutes, moi c'est toujours elder cameron

How is everyone doing? moi je vais tres bien. i am actually typing a letter that i wrote last night. I have decided to do this because often times, sunday i remember what has happened during the week. however come Monday when i sit down in front of the computer, i forget some of the grand things i was going to say. This prevents such error, and will give you more details , thus making my mother more at ease. the next thing i wrote was to respond to questions.

mother, i am actually a huge fan of yoga. i dont know many moves. but the ones i know i do some times hahaa. i dont really need anything.

first i will begin by giving you an outline of how this email will be presented. first we will hear about some fun anecdotes that would make one smile, following this we will be reading about some spiritual experiences or as i like to call them, the "highlight reel". If there are no further questions we will begin. Thank you for your support and considerations. And now the week.

it was wednesday when we decided to visit sister Gagnon. I am sure i have talked about her already but just to make sure . let me describe her to you. Imagine if you will and 80 year old woman, about 5' 0" who has a very thick quebecois accent. She is a classic grandmas, meaning she knits, cooks, tells stories, loves to talk, and loves us! Back to the story, as my knitting mentor she  has been giving me knitting advice for the past couple of visits, so when i told her that i had finished my project she said, with a proud grandmother look in her eye "bien fait" which translates to well done.  we then discussed the importance of Joseph Smith , she then retold us her conversion story. The spirit was defiantly there before leaving. She told us she loved us. I was so happy haha it was great.

On this same day we decided to visit Steve our investigator. We had a good lesson. He had just come out of the hospital again. We told him to call us if he needed any help, and then he said, "you know i will guy, I love you two" i was so happy again! haha 2 people told us that they loved us in one day!

we got a new investigator this week! yeah for member work. Horteuse was a member referral from a member in our ward. She is from Cote D'ivoire.  We took a recent convert with us who also comes from the same country. It was perfect. He is so converted. He was able to share his testimony with this woman and it touched her. The spirit was so strong. I love being a missionary.

Next some spiritual experiences.
We went to visit. We were able to give a blessing to a less active and her non member husband. I asked when the last time she received a blessing and she said it had been a long time and she had been praying that the missionaries could give her one. so we did. it was awesome for sure!

well family i love you all. I hope you are well. I pray for you all the time. you are great.
