God bless america.

man i sure miss this holiday. i didn't think i would but i sure do. the fireworks, the watermelon, the american pride. consider yourselves lucky.

mommy, that LOTR quote was great. i think i will be viewing this talk soon, very soon, probably right after i finish this email.  thank you so much

we had a pretty good week. we visited a lot of people did some service, laughed, had some fun. you know just the usual missionary experience. we went to our kenyan friends house again this week. sylvia is the investigator and robert is the member. we talked about how repentance works, why we need to and the power that we receive when we do. i was reading in the bible dictionary in preparation for this lesson, i was reading under fear. why fear you might ask? well maybe you should flip on over there and it will make sense. now i cannot recall all of the information word for word but i do remember that it said that fear is the opposite of faith, Heavenly father does not want us to fear, whenever there is a vision on earth the messenger usually starts off by saying fear not, Jesus Christ said fear not it is I, to the apostles when he was walking on water. Our Father in Heaven wants us to have faith in Him so we can shut out the fear that is caused by sin and by the natural man, or Satan. It was a really interesting study. it changed some ideas that i previously had and gave me some ideas for how i can personally progress. I think every time we take the sacrament we cast out some fear. we may have fear for what lies ahead in the coming week but when we strengthen ourselves by taking the sacrament then we can look at the situation differently. sometimes i have fear to contact people, but when i show faith that fear is taken away.

we also had a great lesson with Osa, i dont know if you know her, so i will explain osa really quickly. she is a less active, she was born in nigeria and moved to quebec and was found by the missionaries. she is a single mother and struggling to get through school. so we went over just to see how she was. we didn't really plan a lesson or anything. but when we got there we felt like we needed to share some things. so we asked her how she was doing, she seemed sad so i asked her why are you sad osa, then she told us some things she is struggling with. we were able to use the scriptures and follow the spirit and teach a lesson that normally as missionaries we dont like to teach. it was probably one of the best lessons i have ever had on my mission. the spirit was really strong and even though she is not quite ready to come back she felt the Holy Ghost.

yesterday was a great week at church. we had a couple of great talks. our pianist for the branch gave a talk on the power of music. she explained how each one of us should sing the words to every song no matter how we sound. the words really are meant to draw us closer to God and the invite the spirit to our meetings. it was a great talk. then in the 3rd hour we had a combined meeting with the RS and we watched a talk given by president Hinckley when they released the proclamation to the family. i havent really heard much of this ordained women thing but apparently it is causing a lot of friction so we had a lesson about it. it was really good. after the talk was over there was a discussion and a man bore testimony about the RS. i will admit i have never heard a man give a testimony with more emotion about the RS in my life. it was a little bizarre but it was a great testimony.

well family it has been real. good luck with all of your activities this coming week. pray for missionary opportunities. i love you all very much. as of right now mother i don't need much, just your prayers.
