Logan September 9, 2013

hey there y'all.
emily are hope you are feeling better. i am sorry you have a cold. best medicine is chocolate. mommy good luck being alone at barratt. but just remember the famous words of michael jackson "you are not alone, i am here with you, though you're far away, i am here to stay..." now imagine me singing that with one white glittery glove while moonwalking. dad i am pleased that you got to be the royal reader. that is a great honor, i am proud of you.

How was AMY GRANT?????? ok mom i will admit it she is great. we have a little bit of her here and since i can't listen to anything i used to i listen to amy grant. reminds me of you mommers. i am super jealous you got to see her live. man. you guys have all the luck.

emily question for you. have you seen the district. the missionary show. if not watch the district 2 and compare elder moreno with AC slater. they are the same person.... well almost. they look and act the same.. look it up and prepare to laugh.

thank you for the pictures too. they were great. i laughed real hard.

so my family how are all of you. how is school going em? teachers hard, easy? i already know the answer to french, that class is flippin hard. well good luck. dad how is work? the crops for this year? mom how is barratt? how is the ward doing?

i love our ward. i have noticed how amazing our ward is. when you go other places and see other wards and how they work it is funny. its the same gospel of Jesus Christ everywhere but the mentality of the wards are certainly different. but we have a great one. i was so blessed with amazing leaders, teachers, and friends in our ward that i could turn to for counsel and guidance.

we did a lot of service this week. we lifted a ton of stuff. this family in our ward just moved back from their mission and we helped them move stuff from their basement to the mainfloor. and it was all huge.

we met a man named Dennis this week also. he is a former investigator and he lives pretty close to us so we went over there to see if we could get a lesson with him. he is a talker. my teachers thought i was bad. wow i am like beth in little women compared to this guy. that is her name right? beth? well you know who i mean. i think i said one phrase the whole night: est-ce que je peux utiliser la toilette? he said yes.

i also got my first bisous (kisses) this last week. we went in this neighborhood to knock, and the spirit told me that we should visit a lady that we met while knocking 6 weeks ago. her name is louise. i may have mentioned her. but she has bone cancer. and will most likely die from it. the last time we  went she lost her job and had just barely got home and was sad. this time we went we found out that the next day she would be starting chemotherapy again. and she was very nervous. so she said that she has taken it as a sign from God that we are her angels. haha so then at the end of the conversation she did what all french women do, kiss us on the cheeks, 2 of them. as missionaries we are supposed to refrain from that but you cant really stop them when they come. haha she is nice though, i feel super bad for her. but she is very positive and loves life. an inspiration to us all.

i went to a zone study this last week. got some good pictures of me and the temple. hope you all enjoy. love you. keep up the good work. find those lost sheep and bring them back to the fold!

je vous aime.

WOW. I can't tell you how much your packages meant! I still cant get over how every single detail was so perfectly packed and every time i took one more thing out of the package i was amazed! Thank you for being so thoughtful and for remembering me on my birthday. I felt you all so close and could feel of your love and prayers. Thank you thank you thank you.
I had an incredible and happy week full of miracles and testimony builders. My birthday was a birthday that I will never forget and felt so blessed to be able to spend it here in Melun. Soeur Grewar is the greatest companion in the world and planned little surprise rendez-vous all day with my favorite members and amis. I was fed well!! haha Our DMP owns a bakery and gave us one of every patisserie! yikes. they were unbelievable. His kids sang to me and made my day so special.I felt you there with us. We had pasta at a members home for lunch and for dinner we had turkey and potatoes and more patessiries! I have never been fed so well out here. It was amazing: This week has been a blast; We had some really fun experiences I want to share with you:

Earlier this week we met with one of our less active families we've been working with. Their husband and dad passed away recently and they are still grieving him. The son should be going on a mission but wasnt really interested in it. The mom didn't have a super solid testimony and since I've been here we've been trying to lift them up. Last week we taught about prophets because Elder Oaks is coming for the conference next week! She told us she didn't believe in them and only liked the ones from the book of mormon. We testified of Joseph Smith and gave her the engagement to read D&C 121 from when he was in Liberty jail. Soeur Grewar and I studied all week to find things we could teach her. This week we went back and before we even started teaching she said, I've been thinking about what you told me! And you were right! We need modern day prophets now more than ever and I believe in them! We looked at each other and tried not to freak out. It was so cool! Then she told us that her son went on a trip with the young adults and he now has decided to serve a mission!!! We freaked out with that one and didn't even try to hide our excitement! they are on fire and its so cool to see how far they've come already since we've been here. I am so excited for them!

We also found a few new amis this week and have been working on teaching the restoration! It has been a miracle to find new people and I'm excited to see if they'll progress. We found a woman who is really excited to learn more. Her husband talked with the sisters before and told her that he wanted their kids baptized in our church. We met with her for the first time this week and she wants to come to Elder Oaks this next week. She has the cutest little son ever and I put my tag on his shirt. We all laughed then he said "when i'm older i'll wear my own" the room got quiet and the spirit was so strong! there were tears in all of our eyes. " out of the mouths of babes' he was incredible.

This week I have learned so much about Characters of Christ and I have seen them come alive in members and amis and in my companion. This week I was studying about them and read a scripture in Mosiah.

14 And these are they who have published peace, who have brought good tidings of good, who have published salvation; and said unto Zion: Thy God reigneth!

15 And O how beautiful upon the mountains were their feet!

16 And again, how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those that are still publishing peace!

I love these verses! As I read them, I glanced down at my feet...and they sure didn't look very beautiful to me. Take a look for yourselves...

Inline image 1
I read them again and this time I looked down then I looked down at my companion's feet who has one more week of her mission, who has served these past 18 months and has given every single thing she had, and they looked a little different. Through each calus, tanline and blister, each held their own story. I started to remember miracles found at doors we walked forever to knock, or running to catch a train to get to our next rendez-vous on time, a smiles given from a woman who we let sit as our feet stood. Climbing up flights and flights of stairs of apartment buildings, walking extra steps four hours searching for one less active who didnt accept us. Walking up hills and small french alleys, through pouring rain and mud puddles, and rocky cobblestone; I see faces and smiles and peace published. They look beautiful because of the message they bring and the Author who wrote it. He is the "founder of peace who has redeemed His people" And each night as I walk up our 4 flights of stairs and sit down, I can almost hear Him and feel Him, "pouring water into a basin and washing my feet and wiping them clean again" Through His cleansing power of the Atonement, each day we are cleaned again is we use the gift that He's given us. Just as Peter, at times  I don't feel worthy of this act of service that the Savior performs for us daily. But I'm reminded of His words He said to Peter, "if I then, your Lord and Master have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example that ye should do as I have done to you, if ye know these things; happy are yet if ye do them. This is His invitation to us and our commisison to serve others and to wash the feet of our brothers and sisters too. Christ washed the Apostle's feet because He loved them.

"Having loved His own which were in the world, He loved them unto the end" John 13:1. Just as He loved His apostles and loved ones, I know that He'll love us till the end and as He washes our feet daily; we in turn can learn this character of Christ and turn outward.

"There would have been no Atonement except for the character of Christ" Elder Maxwell

I know that Christ is the peace that we publish as missionaries and as Latter Day Saints and O how beautiful our feet look as we walk in His light!

I love you all so much and I'm so grateful for you and your love. I felt so close to you this week on my birthday and felt as if you were with me. I know that God lives and loves you! And oh how grateful I am for the blessing of my family. You're in my heart and mind always.

Have a beautiful week and know that I love you!

Love,
Your Nat Girl

Logan September 3, 2013

hi y'all
mom i do not get headaches my asthma is fine, my spirits are spirited and i love you lots. i hope i got everything.

ok so i know you are all wondering transfers???? well i am staying with elder wilbur in mont saint hilaire for another 6 weeks. yeah!

we had a neat story this week. so we went to visit a less active guy names nicolas. i have passed by his house with elder rasmussen like 3 times and was never home. so we finally went over there and we was home! and we talked to him for a while. less active work works! we got a referal from him! and hopefully we can work a little bit more with him so that he can come back to church. it was a testimony builder for me. my mission president is called of God. he knows what this mission needs and if we as missionaries are obedient to the revelation that he received than we will be blessed and will receive success. I find that it is the same thing in life. The prophets are here to receive revelation for the church. if we follow it and we try our hardest to be united with it then God will bless us. so family  i invite you to read the words of the prophets, old and modern. study them with each other. emily this will help you so much in high school. if  it is one thing i have learned, it is when i was studying the scriptures my relationships with everyone were better. when i wasn't.... well you get the idea. haha

we had a new missionary training by president this last week. which is weird because i just finished training and now i am a real boy! but i saw all the lads and lasses i came in with. and i even saw sister Landeen. i took a pic with her. she is really nice. she is training sister tribe who natalie was a sister training leader for in the mtc, so connections all over the place!

we had a lesson with a man called yvan. he is funny. he asked if either of us sang, and of course my companion says he does pointing to  me, so i pulled out my cantique book and sang a french song haha. super weird but he liked the hymn! haha

we see some strange things in quebec. like limos. 2 of them in 1 day. who drives limos? haha quebers do. well just 2 of them.

i finished the book of mormon for the 2nd time as a missionary. it was amazing. my testimony of that book has grown and grown. just in 3 months. That is what the whole church is held together on. one book. one book proves that joseph smith was a propeht of God. that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only church on Earth today with the authority to act in God's name. i love it

we had the fete de famille this last week. it was awesome! i got to play mandolin and guitar for it. i talked with this guy in our ward for like 30 minutes about guitars. he makes them and is incredible at playing. i got to play a little bit of the blues with him. he was soloing like crazy and then my solos were less...... awesome. haha but it was great fun.
actually at the fete de famille there was a man who came with a family in the ward. his name was merlin. thats right the wizard merlin! super cool guy. he is covered in tats but he is an aspiring painter, and is starting to get big. we was super interested in the church too. we are going to go give him a visit. and hopefully teach him. i would love to. he is so cool. like he is one of those guys who you would see on the street and mom would probably say kids stay away. but he is the nicest guy, totally willing to talk about his beliefs and stuff. merlin, what a wizard. haha get it?

well my family the time has come for me to leave. sadly the hours move quickly. before we know it it will be fall. then winter!!! yeah!

a lundi.

tout est bien

Natalie September 2, 2013

My dear fam,
It was so great hearing from all of you! thanks so much for the messages. It sounds like everyone is doing so well at home. So happy!
Well things over here in France are just a hoppin! We hit our 100 baptism mark this week! We had a goal 2 transfers ago to get 100 before Elder Oaks comes next week. We were going to have a mission conference but it got cancelled because he has too much to do. It will be a historic weekend! He is coming to organize stakes and wards here in France which is a fufillment of a prophesy made by President Hinckley. Its really historic and the members here are really excited! Because I'm in the Paris stake I get to go to it, so I'm really excited!
I absolutely love Melun and have seen so many great things this week. At the moment the work is a little slow and we're struggling to find investigators that are willing to progress. But this past week our schedule has been filled with lots of opportunities to serve and help the ward members and serve less activies! It was really fun. We helped a member move without a car...haha that was fun. lots of trains and busses involved. Loved it. I love the ward though and they treat us like family.
One of my favorite moments happened on Saturday. The elders had a baptism of their ami Pascal. Our recent convert Aurelie invited him to church one sunday and he came and well the rest is history. They are in college and are really incredible! Well Aurelie is the one that invited us over and we walked in and there was a room filled with college students waiting for us to teach them!? Yeah...she's a boss! Well we showed up to the baptism and in walks that whole crowd! They had invited all of their nonmember friends and the chapel was hopping with cool college kids coming to hang on a Saturday night for a baptism. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Aurelie spoke on baptism and shared her experience. Afterwards we had the chance to talk with them all again and hang out! They had a lot of questions and it was so great to talk to all of them. One of the questions was for my comps number...haha that was pretty funny. We're hoping to meet with all of them soon. Pascal also invited all of his family who are not members and they were very interested as well. Member missionary work is the way to hasten the work. I have such a testimony of it!!
The ward is really powerful here. The majority are converts who have been in the church for many years. They have strong testimonies and a lot of faith. I LOVE them and look forward to teaching with them and being in their homes each week. One family that we love is the Hallermeyers; He is in the Bishopric and is stellar. He has served in Paris for the past 20 or 30 years and has done so much for this area. His wife has terminal cancer and is in pretty bad health, but despite that they still reach out to everyone around them and sacrifice for others. It has been incredible visiting less actives and other members. Literally probably every single one we've visited has brought up that family and told us something they've done for them in their time in the ward. I tear up everytime I hear it. We saw him at the baptism and saw the weight of what he's been bearing so we decided to fast for him and his family. The next day at church, we were amazed to look up and see Soeur Hallermeyer! She was well enough to come to church that week. She hasnt been since I've been here. It was a little miracle and a testimony to me that God hears our prayers. It is absolutely humbling and astounding to see the hearts of the members here. It makes me want to work that much harder when I see their faith and hearts. Tender mercy.
On Tuesday we went out with the ward council to do visits and my heart was BURNING with joy. It was so cool and I felt like they were an army. We have been trying to get a hold of a recent convert and havent been able to see her! We've tried for weeks. We went with the Relief Society President to try again and she was home. It was a miracle! Her brother just passed away and she was swallowed up in grief. It was incredible to watch Soeur Lopez comfort her and teach her about the Plan of Salvation and about the Atonement. I have never seen so much compassion and love. I was blown away. I feel like it is a complete honor to be here in Melun. It is powerful to watch the Lord use His people. When we are willing, He'll let us be a part of His great work. I know He is preparing us for His return and I'm so excited for it. Each day I feel Him getting closer. What a responsibility we have to prepare the world for Him.
This week I was studying in D&C Section 133 and had a tender mercy!

37 And this gospel shall be preached unto every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.

 38 And the aservants of God shall go forth, saying with a loud voice: Fear God and give glory to him, for the hour of his judgment is come;

39 And aworship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the bfountains of waters—

I love these verses and love that it is talking about us! We were foreordained to preach the gospel. As I was studying, I noticed that this section was revealed in the John Johnson Home in Hiram Ohio--the place where I decided to serve a mission. The place where Joseph was tarred and feathered and we stood outside the house and sang to him on Heritage Tours. There are no coincidences. I know that God knows me personally and it is part of my journey here in earth to be on my mission here in France; I know He knows me. And i know He lives. I look forward to the day when He will come again. I hope and pray that I'll be ready and that I will have done everything in my power to make the world ready as well.

I love you all so much and I'm so grateful for your examples and love.

I hope you have an icredible week! Celebrate my palooza week for me! And do something fun on Saturday in my honor; Thanks for all the birthday wishes!!

LOVE YOU ALL!

Love,

Soeur Nat Cameron

salut ma famille! comment ca va?
well another week has past. only one more pday until transfer 3. wow time flies. Emily how is highschool? it sounds like you are having just the best time of your life!! i am so happy for you. just remember stay away from boys. at all times. until after you are home from your mission if you decide to serve or until you are done with your college. you can choose... ha but really how is that high school doing since i left it? you have to check just above the library door. i left a secret sign there. i wonder if it is still there. haha also emily i have my spies at the school! i have my eyes on you to make sure you aren't getting into trouble! you think i am joking but i am not.

mother how are the little ones? i miss those stories ha. they make me laugh so hard. jess's story about the boy who couldn't stand it any longer made me laugh. the poor little guy. also emily is already starting to change. stop it. not much change in the trees yet but it's a comin!

dad how is the harvest? good year? i have a good story about farm land which i will tell later in this email. lets just say you would love to live here. not in mont saint hilaire you would probably hate it. but in a place called sorel. that is where you would want to live.

alright lets get down to business.... to defeat the huns! ya!

the week went a little something like this.

so we had an investigator! for like 3 days haha. we found him knocking. super nice guy named dennis. he grew up on a farm way up north and was raised by his older siblings because his parents died. but he told us a lot of great stories. anyways he fed us lunch. we ate blueberries that he picked from the north. crazy i know! they were delicious. i was singing berries and cream in my head when i ate the real berries and cream. i have a pictures so just you wait.

I went on another split this week. Elder Losee. haha he is a transfer younger than i am. so i was senior for a day! i got to practice my french haha. and guess what i did! i gave my first anointing. my first one was done in french. how neat is that! it was soeur Petit who is old and hurt her back so we went and gave her a blessing. frere hebert gave the blessing and i anointed. it was pretty neat.

after that we went out and knocked. knocking with elder losee was interesting. haha he is funny.

we had a zone conference this week. it was really good. we are changing the way we do missionary work here. we are going to work a lot more with less actives and stuff. it is going to be awesome. president patrick doesn't want us knocking as much anymore. before it was like a balance now it is all less active work and finding people through them. so that was really good. we talked about shepherding the lost back into the fold. i loved that a lot. As missionaries we come and go. 2 years is not a long time. and 6 weeks is not long at all. so we come and go very often. so it is up to the members to do missionary work too. as missionaries we can only do so much. but when we have members working with us the retention rates are so much higher. and the conversion is faster. so family i encourage you to do missionary work. i know it is hard but the reward is great. there is a scripture i cant remember where it is but it says, i didn't say it would be easy i just said it would be worth it.... hahahahahahahahahaha well anyways do it

so we went out to a place called sorel saturday. dad listen up this is where it gets good. its about  an hour drive to get there. we passed some of the most beautiful country i have ever seen. farm land as far as the eye could see. and we had to take a ferry  to get there. the bridge was far away. i hope thats not apostate now that i think about it. we were on a boat. oops. haha

well anyways we were doing a whole lot of less active work up there. it was awesome we got a lot of information. like hey this less active moved or even this one is dead. yeah really there was one who was dead. it is sad the ward didn't know that. so do less active work!!

but we found one less active (the last one we visited ha , i know right, always the last one) and she was awesome. her name is joyce hocker. she hasn't been to churhc in like 50 years or something like that. so she is pretty much a non member. but it was awesome talking to her. she is very much one with nature. we are going to go back and do some service for her. maybe we will get her back to church. she has a dog who jumped on my the entire time we where there. he was huge. just a pup too! but i didn't show my fear. i was strong!

well my family i love you and have a nice week. peace out
elder cameron
emily i am serious stay away from boys hahaha
I wanted to knock this door. We didn't.
Berries and cream.
On the ferry.

Natalie August 26, 2013

Hello dear family!
It was so great hearing from everyone and it sounds like things are fantastic at home and all over the world. I am doing so great and am so happy! I had a really incredible busy week and things are just going great.
This week I had my first interview with President and Sister Poznanski in french! It was the greatest thing ever and I felt so much love! I love them both so much and have wanted to talk to them in person. I have only met them once (the day i came in) and i was nervous they wouldn't know who i was. I walked in with a bunch of missionaries and they walked up both and without skipping a beat or looking at my tag said ah sister cameron! its so good to see you! its been a long time hasn't it? how are you doing! I tried really hard not to tear up...haha it meant the world to me. I had a beautiful time talking with them and they have changed my life. I love them so much! Soeur Grewar also surprised everyone and gave her dying testimony in zone conference. She is going home after this transfer and President and I were the only ones that knew! Everyone was so shocked and she gave an incredible testimony. She will go home on her 3 year mark in the church. We're so excited to work our guts out for the last 4 weeks that she has here. She is incredible!
Wednesday I went to Torcy for an exchange with Soeur Huntsman. It was so great and I learned SO much. She is an incredible missionary! She's from Utah and is almost done. We were on a train on our way to a rendez-vous and we contacted a woman. Her name is Jeanette and was SO kind! We found out that she's super believing and turns out her aunt is Lds! can you believe that? She is from Cameroon and freaked out when she saw my tag...haha that happens a lot. They always think I'm from Cameroon. We invited her to have a chapel tour towards the end of the week and she said yes! we got her info and left her. That night we called her and invited her to have the tour the next morning instead so i could see her! She agreed and we met her at the church in Torcy. It was my first chapel tour and it was so cool! we ended up in chapel and testified of the Savior. We taught her the first full lesson and it went incredible. She loved it! We quoted the first vision and she ate it up. We committed her to pray and read and she said she would. she was so cute and kind and it was a miracle to find her! God puts people in our paths wherever we go.
Thursday we headed to Vannes to finalize legality and we visited one of Soeur Grewar's old amis! She came to France and has waited 3 years for her husband to get here from Africa! He showed up the day we were there. It was incredible! Felecia is a strong member now and is teaching her husband. It was incredible!! On the way home the train attatched in front of us got derailed so we were stuck in the middle of nowhere for 3 hours which turned our trip into 6 hours! haha it was very long but fun. There was the sweetest old couple who sat in the car next to us and they watched out for us. We didn't arrive to Paris until around 10 so we stayed with the Paris sisters! God helped us and protected us!  It felt so good to get home the next day. I hadn't been in our apartment in a few days. Melun definitely feels like home and I know it's where I'm supposed to be. I love it!
We had a FHE with one of our amis and a family in the ward. Prisca is a recent convert; She got baptized a few months ago and is incredible. Her husband isn't a member but we recently started teaching him. Frere Gaba is a member who is around the same age and he served his mission in Toulouse! He is incredible and set up a FHE with Jean'Paul and Prisca and they're cute little kids. We went over and it was the coolest thing. Frere Gaba is the coolest missionary ever and I gained such a huge testimony of member missionary work and integration! They are good friends now and Jean-Paul came to church on sunday. Our goal for them is getting them to the temple eventually! I'm so excited to teach him this week and involve Prisca.
This week I've studied a lot about the Holy Ghost. I love the quote from Elder Busche that I always quote: "You want to be good and to do good; that is commendable, but the greatest achievement that can be reached in our life is to be under the complete influence of the Holy Ghost, then He will teach us what is really good and necessary to do." I love that!! Every day we make hundreds of small decisions that either keep us walking in the light and inviting the Spirit, or we choose to walk away from Him. The more I'm on my mission, the more i realize that its not Him thats leaving us when we lose the spirit, its us walking away from Him!! What a blessing it is to always have a member of the Godhead with us at all times if we're worthy of Him.
Well things here in France are so great and exciting! Elder Oaks is coming here next month to organize some stakes here in France which I guess is fulfilling a prophesy of President Hinckley! Its incredible and i'm really excited to go! he's also coming for a mission conference too so we get to see him twice! Mitt Romney is also coming to talk to the young adults here in Paris! We're crossing our fingers that we can go! Great things are happening here in France!
We're so excited for this coming week and have 27 lessons planned! We're trying to go all out after being out of our ville all last week. I know that God is a God of miracles and He will help us accomplish anything if we trust in Him and love Him. I know that the Savior lives and He is here with us every step of the way. I love Him!
So great hearing from all of you and Loge, i totally teach people from Cote d'ivoire all the time! My ami Jean Paul and frere gaba are from there! thats way cool! And yes we totally do the buzz thing and try to make our way to the bottom! we made it through once last week! we felt accomplished. haha one Jehovah's witness and 19 muslims later...haha mom we're safe...i promise
Well i love you all so much! I hope you have an incredible week! I am so grateful for you and for your support and love. I can feel it!  You are all in my constant prayers and thoughts and I cant wait for the miracles that await me this week;
LOVE YOU ALL

so what happened this last week.
we met a lady from Cote d'ivoire or ivory coast as you anglaphones call it. she is really cool. the only success we have is from people who are not from quebec originally haha its sad.
we had a little chat with a guy named Dennis. he is quebecois but he keeps telling us "i won't try and convert you if you don't try to convert me". he lost his wife about 5 years ago to cancer. he is all alone and so he likes to talk to us. he told me this week, in preparation for the winter "in -40 weather and you  have to take a leak outside make sure your back is to the wind" haha i laughed really hard. it reminded me of prairie home companion lake wobegon. haha
we had a DA at la famille Gaboriault. i have mentioned them before, they are awesome. there are 3 little girls there and at first they were super shy around us but this last time we went they wanted to play so bad. white handbook pretty much says stay away from children. i was nervous haha. but i had this little star stress ball thing that they stole and were playing with. needless to say the star didn't make it home with me.
other than that we had a lot of pass bys and port a port. not a ton happened. i got switched back to rive sud zone. so we didn't go to quebec city this week. we will just go to longueil this next week.
good luck with school and stuff.
love you all
