hello family,
this is your son, brother, beloved hero, and cherished icon Elder Cameron, haha
well lets see what happened this week, first of all thank you so much for the thoughts and prayers,
mom i did get the package, sorry i thought i told you, and my physical address is tricky because we live in a basement apartment of these people and i don't think we have a mail box.... so i don't really know what to do there....
but thank you so much for the package, loved the dog.
Yes you should meet with tarrin rasmussen. haha he would leave a note, such a missionary thing to do. he is such a great missionary and i learned a ton from him. and he lives like right next to brayden's family.
how are all y'all doing. I am doing better. have i told you that merdyl is the name of my mandolin? she and i have become very close friends as of late. don't worry she is not alive so its not apostate.
guess what i did this week. placed 2 copies of the Book of Mormon. thats a record week for me. first guy we gave it to was during a blitz. the district leader and his greeny came and blitzed our area. i like elder smith a lot. he was elder wilburs comp in the mtc. which was funny. we had an interview in a wheat field the next morning, because that is what you do on a split, get an interview, and he was talking to me about elder wilbur. Elder smith and i are very similar. I have actually played him in a match of soccer. His team was really good he played for East High. so i made high school musical jokes, anyways he was saying that he had some rough times with him too, but just keep going. so that is what i am doing.
so that story about the BOM, well we were street contacting and we saw this guy. he didn't talk much but we told him about the BOM and he took it. didn't give us anyway to contact him though so that was a bummer. then we sang Happy Birthday to an old lady in the street and gave her a high 5. that was special. hahaha she laughed a lot.
The 2nd BOM was given to a man who was written down in our area book. we went over there and he let us in! that never happens, then we had a lesson with him. we gave him a BOM. the only problem with him is he has done his "research" about our faith and he has come to the conclusion that the recently unearthed pyrimad in illinois has to be done by the nephites, because nephi is an egyptian name. haha well he was fun to talk to. he also talked about atlantis. oh boy. i got a chuckle after we left.
we had a DA at frere Barry's house. he is a recent convert of about a year and is preparing to go to the temple. i am so excited for him. he is the most solid recent convert i have ever seen. i feel a little bad for him. he lives all alone in an apartment. never been married. and at first is a little strange but i love him. he is hilarious. he is a salsa danser and other spanish dances. so hopefully he will do a dance at the fete des familles coming up in septermber. i told him that i would play my mandolin if he would dance. he thought that was a good trade. Plus he is an excellent cook. seriously he knows how to make a mean soup.
we were knocking one day and we saw these 2 little girls making a music video with an iPad. i reminded me of emily haha. so i got in the background and bobbed my head a little bit. just so they couldn't see.... at the time anyway haha i am sure they saw it when they watched it.
this past week i have got two chances to play guitar. One at Frere Ochs. i love that guy. i was on the blitz at the time and he asked elder smith if he had ever heard me play. he said no, so he went and pulled out his guitar, which is a sick instrument. like 800 dollar guitar. and he said listen to this guy, pointing to me. so i played a little something for him.
2nd time was at the Blains house. Everyone always asks me what i want to do after the mission and everytime i say not sure yet but my comps, elder rasmussin and elder wilber always cut in and say, he is a musician. so then they ask what i play and i tell them. so Frere Blain said you will not get dessert unless you play guitar for us. so i played. it was awesome. he is a singer so i played and he sang and i sang back up. haha it was special.
we were knocking and we knocked into this guy named eric. at first he said that he wasn't interested but then we got talking about hockey and the government and then music, and then he showed us some of his brother's bands songs. and apparently they are pretty big. but it was sweet music. i felt a little apostate listening. but there wasn't much i could do... hahah
well thats all for this week, stay tuned and maybe next week we will have some more tales to tell. i love you all. emily! starting the big boy school! you will have to say hello to all my friends that are seniors now. the first friend you must find: Brennan Goodsell. He is on seminary council. so when you see him tell him he needs to email me. i love that kid. good luck em. its a blast. tell madame that she needs to teach a course on quebecois. and then tell her when i get back i will come and teach a class quebecois. you will love high school. it is fun.
i love you all
keep on keepin on
elder cameron
Tout est Bien
