Wow what a week it has been! So many incredible things happened. First off it is transfer week and i am being transfered! I'm going to a suburb of Paris called Melun. It's the south part of Paris. I'm really excited and anxious to be in a new ville. I am sad to see Tours go. It has been quite an adventure and I'll never forget all the incredible people that i found and met here. I will be leaving part of my heart here for sure.
For my last weekend here, I got to witness something incredible. As I told you last week we had 2 baptisms set and ready to go for Saturday. Things were going great all week and we were in daily contact with Anne-Marie and William. On Saturday morning we even went and took an hour bus to meet them so they wouldn't be late for their interviews before their baptisms. We showed up and Anne-Marie looked terrible. She told us that she wasn't going to be baptized that day. But William was still going to. Her mom called her and told her that she didn't know anything about our church and didn't want her to be baptized in it. We were devestated. Wow it really hurt. We talked with her and testified and promised blessings. She told us that she knew it was true and she wanted to be baptized but she couldn't that day. We prayed our hearts out praying to know God's will and be there for her. At one point we were alone with William on the bus and we asked William if he wanted his mom to be baptized too. He said yes. We asked him what he could do or what his mom needed in order to make the decision to be baptized. Then, get this, he told us that through his decision to be baptized, he had faith that when he got baptized he would receive blessings and his life would be different. He knew that his mom would see and she would want the same blessings. THE FAITH OF AN 11 YEAR OLD. William will be a light to the world and to his mom. He was baptized on Saturday and was GLOWING. It was such an incredible thing to watch and witness and I feel so blessed that I was able to be here for it. I had my first baptism on my 4 month mark. And it's a day I will never forget.
Yesterday we had a wonderful dinner appointment with the Colton family. They are from California and spend their summers here in France in their beautiful Chateau. It was build in 1867 I think by a famous industralist. We spent the afternoon with them and loved it! They welcomed us in and gave us an incredible meal. it was delicious. We got to go exploring on their 100 acres of land and in their beautiful house on all floors. I felt like i was in Downton Abbey! It was so nice of them to have us over.
Well it's been an incredible 12 weeks here in Tours. I have learned so much about myself and about God. I have seen Him everywhere here. I will miss all the people I have grown to love. All of my amis that we've found together here and all of the members that I have learned to love. Tours will always have a piece of my heart. It's incredible to think that we came to Tours with literally no one. We opened the ville with not one investigator. But 12 weeks later, the chapel was full of our investigators, less actives and people we have grown to love. It was really humbling to look around and see them all. It was a tender mercy to see it yesterday. I will miss it a lot.
i really appreciate all of your love and support. I read a quote from President Monson that made me think of you all. "A mission is a family affair. Though the expanse of continents or oceans may seperate, hearts are as one." Oh how true this is! Even though there are oceans between us, I feel you all with me everyday and I can feel your prayers. I feel you Mom, Dad, and Em from our home praying for me everyday. I feel Jess and Ammon not too far away and Just and Shan in Logan all supporting me. I also feel my fellow missionary clear out in Canada. I feel of your strength Loge. Even though we're thousands of miles away I can feel you. And I feel our mutual goals and desires to bring the world His truth. It means the world to me. I want you to know that I think of all of you and pray for you too. And as I work I think of you because with the Savior you are my motivation. I think of all the incredible blessings I've received from having an eternal family, and that motivates me to want others to experience it too.
Well wish me luck as I head out on a new adventure of a ville. I love you all and will be praying for you! Thanks so much for all of your support.
Love,
Soeur Cameron
